In ancient times Rome was ruled by many emperors: Rome of the Caesars in Imperial Rome, rich in history, myths, passions and legends. The heart of Imperial Rome is without doubt Via dei Fori Imperiali with the Colosseum, the Arch of Constantine and Colle Palatino where, according to the legend, Rome was founded.
The Rome of the Caesars is a story, a legend, a past and present culture that in this journey will lead us to the Palatine Hill and then go back to the valley of the Imperial Forum.
The tour starts from Via dei Fori Imperiali and heads towards the Colosseum, the most impressive architecture of Imperial Rome. After visiting the majestic ruins of the amphitheatre, the arena of gladiator fights, you will first see the triumphal Arch of Constantine before reaching the archaeological area of the Roman Forum. You will climb to the top of Palatine Hill, where Rome was founded, and visit the imposing structures of the Domus Flavia and Severiana. Past the Arch of Titus, you will descend toward the valley of the Roman Forum: the political center of Ancient Rome for several centuries and the heart of public and religious life of the Roman citizens.
Walk along the Holy Way and then see the Basilica of Maxentius with its massive concrete vaulted ceiling, the remains of the House of Vestal Virgins, the Temple of Vesta, the ruins of the temple dedicated to Julius Caesar, the Temple of Castor and Pollux, the majestic columns of the temple dedicated to Antoninus and Faustina, the remains of the Emilia and Julia Basilicas, the Temple of Saturn, and well-preserved structure of the Senate in front of the triumphal Arch of Septimius Severus. Upon arriving at the foot of Capitoline Hill, you will go back to the Via dei Fori Imperiali, where the tour will conclude.
